Want to know more about hypnosis:
Firstly, the hypnotic state is something we all experience almost every day. It is totally natural remember the number of times you have read a page of a book and not taken a word in, the times you have driven the car perfectly safely but dont remember the journey it is also similar to day dreaming or the moments of relaxation just before drifting off to sleep.
Hypnosis allows you to focus your attention on yourself as the outside world and the critical self is switched off for a time. In this state of deep relaxation the unconscious mind is more accessible and therefore so is the ability to make changes.
During hypnosis you are not asleep and nothing can happen without your consent. You can hear everything being said and afterwards will usually remember all that has happened while in hypnosis.
Can Anyone Be Hypnotised?
Yes providing you want to be.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis or be unable to come out of trance?
No you can wake at any time because you remain in control at all times.
Could I be influenced to do anything against my will?
No you can wake at any time and would if anything was suggested to you which shocked or upset you.
Will I reveal my deepest secrets?
Even though you are deeply relaxed you are still in control and you will not reveal anything you do not wish to.
Is hypnosis safe?
Being drug free and because you are in control, it is perhaps one of the safest forms of therapy. There is no documented evidence of anyone ever being harmed by hypnosis. Although it is not possible to guarantee a cure, the techniques and treatments can almost always assist in the relief of distressing symptoms and therefore bring significant, beneficial change to quality of life.
Is it always necessary to deal with childhood memories?
No but sometimes the decisions we make as children are still acted on despite now being adults and this can place restrictions on our actions that may no longer be relevant. Hypnosis can help you to decide which if any of these blocks are necessary to you today.
